Call: For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.

Response: May Christ shine on us.

Based on Isaiah 9:2: Job 33:28; Matthew 5:14; Ephesians 5:8,14.

OPENING PRAYER

Leader: Dear heavenly Father, our hearts ache. We are weary and worn. So, as

we gather together today, we are reminded of the sweet words of the psalmist.

And we pray together:

All: The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside quiet waters; he restores my soul.

He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the Valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all he days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen.

—based on Psalm 23
