PRELUDE Patty Bell

*PRAISE MUSIC: “We Gather Together” UMH 131

CALL TO WORSHIP

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you

And also with you

The risen Christ is with us.

Praise the Lord!

INVOCATION

Leader: The mighty one, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God shines forth.

All: Our God comes and does not keep silence. Before him is a devouring fire, and a mighty tempest all around him. He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that he may judge his people.

Leader: The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge. The Lord says, “Those who bring thanksgiving as their sacrifice honor me; to those who go the right way I will show the salvation of God.”

All: We are grateful to you, our Lord God. We are grateful for life, for health, for peace and safety, for all you provide. And beyond that, we are grateful for your grace. Show us the way of your salvation, and let us walk in the steps of Jesus. Amen. –inspired by Psalm 50

PRAYERS AND OFFERING

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Merciful God, we confess that we have not loved you with our whole hearts. We have failed to be an obedient church. We have not done your will, we have broken your law, we have rebelled against your love, we have not loved our neighbors, and we have not heard the cry of the needy. Forgive us, we pray. Free us for joyful obedience, through Jesus Christ. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF FORGIVENESS

Hear the good news:

Christ died for us while we were yet sinners; that proves God’s love toward us

In the name of Jesus Christ, you are forgiven!

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE: Joys and Concerns

PASTORAL PRAYER

THE LORD’S PRAYER

OFFERTORY PRAYER

We want to live beyond the here and now, Lord, so we pause now for our offering. We offer a portion of our finances because you already own all we see. And we pray, Lord, that you would let this offering represent just the beginning for us. Stir us to offer our time and our talents to you, as well. Let us be people who live with eternity in view in our hearts and minds. Let us see that our possessions are temporary, and let us pour our energy into things that are eternal. Let us drink deeply of the life that is truly life. Amen.
