CALL TO WORSHIP

Call: Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Leader: You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of children and infants, you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.

People: Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Leader: When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?

People: Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

Leader: You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet.

People: Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

—Based on Psalm 8

PRAYERS AND OFFERING

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE: Joys and Concerns

PASTORAL PRAYER

CONFESSION

One: Creator God, you made us and know our inward thoughts. You called us through heroes and prophets to be your people. You gave us your laws that we might find true happiness through obeying them

All: Forgive us! We have disobeyed and are sorry.

One: Savior Jesus, you walked in human flesh so that you might know our lives intimately. You taught us again how to live with God and each other. You died that you might bring us back to God..

All: Forgive us! We have not done what you taught.

One: Holy Spirit, you come as challenger, Comforter and Advocate. You provide energy for the right and guidance for the lost. You mediated the Creator and Christ to us daily.

All: Forgive us!  We have turned our backs on you.

One: Three-in-One, you model community for us, showing us how to build each other up in love. You come to us in all the ways we need to experience you, with truth and mercy.

All: Forgive us for all the times we have fallen short of your glory!

WORDS OF ASSURANCE

In millions of ways, God reaches out in forgiveness and mercy—in the

sunlight and in raindrops, in delicious food and daily bread, in times of rest

and times of stress, with love that is strong and sure, love that we can hold on

to so that it might pull us through whatever we are experiencing. Hold on to

God’s love tightly today—we are forgiven!

OFFERTORY PRAYER:  Our heavenly Father, every good and perfect gift comes from you. We recognize that all we’ve been given is a blessing from our Father, who loves us. As we bring our offerings to you this morning, we do so humbly. We know we wouldn’t have gifts to bring if it weren’t for your blessing and generosity toward us. And so we come to bless and give generously back to you. May our offerings be pleasing to you and come from pure and grateful hearts. And may all that we give be used to further your kingdom. In your holy name. Amen.
