WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

PRELUDE Patty Bell

*PRAISE MUSIC: “We Gather Together” UMH 131

OPENING PRAYER

Come to Christ, that living stone, rejected by the world,

but in God’s sight chosen and precious.

We have responded to Christ’s call, and seek to be built into a spiritual house, a living reminder of God’s presence on earth.

Once we were no people, but now we are God’s people,

called out of the darkness into God’s marvelous light.

Therefore we sing with the Church in all ages:

Blessed be your name, O God, our Redeemer.

By your mercy we have been born anew to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

LITANY

Leader: The Lord is great! Let the people rejoice!

People: Our joy is found in you, O God!

Leader: The Lord brings hope! Let the people rejoice!

People: Our salvation comes from you, O God!

Leader: The Lord is great! Let the people rejoice!

People: We rejoice in you!

TIME WITH THE YOUTH

PRAYERS AND OFFERING

CONFESSION

Father, we’re entering a season that celebrates the greatest gift we’ve

ever received, your Son. But we confess that the gifts we think about most

are wrapped in paper under our Christmas trees. We’re consumed with

wish lists and lights, decorations and songs, but we leave you out of it,

missing true joy. Help us see you in this season and celebrate the light you

gave to the world. And may the greatest gift we give this year be in

sharing your gift with others.

PARDON

While we were yet sinners our Lord gave us the gift of everlasting

forgiveness. In the name of the one you gives the gift you are forgiven.
