GREETING

On this Labor Day weekend, we welcome all who have come to worship. Let us choose to be workers together on behalf of God and to be blessings to others.

LITANY

Leader: Let us pray, “O God, hallowed be your name.

People: And let us live in honor and praise in our daily lives.

Leader: Let us pray, “Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven,”

People: And let us act in love and justice that we will contribute to God’s reign of love.

Leader: Let us pray, “Give us this day our daily bread,”

People: And let us share our abundance with others that God’s blessing may spread throughout creation.

Leader: Let us pray, “forgive us our trespasses, as we those who sin against us,”

People: And let us genuinely repent, receive forgiveness and be renewed in God’s love to forgive others.

Leader: Let us pray, “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,”

People: And let us open our eyes, our hearts and our minds that we may step aside our own obstacles and resist creating obstacles for our neighbors.

Leader: Let us pray for all of these things in the name of God, whose love overcomes all.

People: For God’s is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever.

All: Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE

Leader: The prophets in Scripture cry out for the people of God to pursue justice.

Congregation: We have become too complacent with injustice.

Leader: We ignore the needy and downtrodden.

Congregation: We blame the poor for their own troubles.

Leader: We believe we can make no difference in the big problems.

Congregation: We want to avoid the arguments about social issues.

Leader: We cannot ignore those that God cares about.

Congregation: We cannot let our brothers and sisters suffer.

Leader: Let us allow God’s love for all people to fill our hearts.

Congregation: Let us advocate for the helpless and do what God will enable us to do.
