Leader: The Mighty One, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to the place where it sets.
All: From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth.
Leader: Our God comes and will not be silent; fire devours before Him, and around Him a tempest rages.
All: God summons the heavens above and the earth, that He may judge his people.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION-Unison

In many ways, Lord, we have been like the people of Israel, wandering in the wilderness. Even though our diet is far more opulent than the manna and quail of the people of Israel, we too have grumbled.  Even though our homes are far more elaborate than their tattered tents, we too have complained.  Even though we have received far more of Your revelation than they had, we too have wandered.  Even though we have received the inner power of the Holy Spirit, we too are filled with fear.  So, we offer no excuses.  We can only lay hold on Your grace and, like Israel, ask forgiveness for our sins.  Amen

PRAYERS AND OFFERINGS

OFFERTORY PRAYER-Unison

God of peace and patience, how it must grieve You when we waste so much of our precious time and energy in worry. We allow ourselves to get so lost in worry over things over which we have no control that we miss the most beautiful moments of life that slip by unnoticed and unheeded. As we give our gifts this morning we acknowledge Your power and our limitations. Help us to trust You, not just this day but all our days, confident in Your abundant blessing as more than adequate to meet every real need we have. We pray this in the name of Christ, our rock and redeemer. Amen. (Luke 12:32-40)
