PRAYERS AND OFFERING

OFFERTORY PRAYER:

Father, you have blessed us beyond measure, and you have called us to worship. May our gifts flow from hearts of worship to the One who provides all we need. May we never forget that all we have is yours. Take it and use it according to your will. Amen.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Call: We are bombarded daily with the temptation to be self-sufficient, to trust

in our own abilities and strengths, and to regard our accomplishments as ours

alone. Scripture, however, exposes our folly and points us to the truth. Let us

go to God and confess our sin.

Prayer: Gracious God, all we have and all we are is a gift from you, yet we often fail to acknowledge your presence and your grace in our lives. We prefer to take credit for what we do right, to blame others for what goes wrong, and to dismiss as insignificant our weaknesses, self-righteousness and pride. We want to be regarded as being strong, rather than relying on your strength. We want to avoid hardship and trials rather than endure the suffering that molds godly character. We want to be in control rather than yield to you. We ask for your forgiveness. We confess that our stubbornness reveals our mistrust of both your goodness and your love and desires for us. Grant us mercy, we pray, and restore us to a right relationship with you, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON

The mercy of God has no beginning and no end but endures forever. Friends, receive the free gift of God’s grace that is yours this day. Amen.
