CALL TO CONFESSION

PRAYER OF CONFESSION-Unison

We confess O God that the world is too much with us. We do not yield to Your spirit as we cross these sacred portals. We bring our minds to be justified, not changed; and our prejudices to be christened, not purged. We believe in prayer, but we do not pray in belief. We bring You our burdens, but take them home again. We pledge You our allegiance but resist Your precepts. Save us, O God, from the wretchedness of our self-sufficiency, and show us the Christ who alone can redeem us. We pray in His Name. Amen.

OFFERTORY PRAYER-Unison

God of All, we are so thankful for this opportunity to give. Our joy is tempered by the knowledge that so many of your children suffer in war-ravaged countries and impoverished cities.   Multiply these gifts so that those oppressed by injustice may experience your care.   Awaken us so that our need to act faithfully against all injustice is reflected in how we speak and how we serve.  In your holy name, we pray.  Amen.                                                                             Psalm 82
