This has been a very hard week for our congregation. A wonderful 5 year old boy was taken home to heaven. He and his family are very important members of our church and we are all feeling the pain. It is so hard to know what to do in situations like this. We hurt, we cry, we rail at God and want to know “WHY?” How can this possibly have happened? There are few, if any, words that can help. Saying, “I’m so sorry for your loss,” just doesn’t cut it for parents, grandparents and great-grandparents who have lost one of the most special parts of their life.
Mike and I made a special point of giving our own grand-children extra hugs and love, but we did so with tears in our eyes and an ache in our heart.
So, besides praying for the family and letting know that we love them, maybe the only thing we can do is this… make an extra effort to tell our own special people how much we love them. We need to trust in God, and know that though this will never be “right” in our minds, if we let God in, He will, over time, make it easier to bear and He will comfort us all.
