GATHERING

GREETING

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

And also with you.

The risen Christ is with us.

Praise the Lord!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

PRELUDE: Quiet your thoughts of the world and be in worship. Patty Bell

*PRAISE MUSIC: “Seek Ye First” UMH 405

INVOCATION

Most gracious and loving God, as we come into this worship space, as we lift our hearts to worship you, we ask that you look deep within us and search us. Help us see the true condition of our hearts. Help us hear again your souls of love and grace and life. We pray that this hour is an hour that will change our lives forever. Amen

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Leader: Why do we boast of our mischief all day long?

People: Our tongues are like sharp razors.

Leader: We love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking the truth.

People: We love all words that devour.

Leader: But one day God will break down our pride, and eventually God will snatch us from the land of the living.

People: The righteous will see and fear, saying, “See the one that would not take refuge in God, but trusted in abundant riches, and sought refuge in wealth!”

Leader: O God, we seek to trust in your steadfast love forever and ever, and put aside our mischief.

People: We will thank you forever because of what you have done. And in the presence of the faithful, we proclaim your name, for it is good. Amen

–based on Psalm 52

ASSURANCE OF PARDON
