WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

PRELUDE Patty

*PRAISE MUSIC: “I Surrender All” UMH 354

INVOCATION

All have fallen short of the glory of God. So we all enter this sanctuary, this place that has been set aside and made holy for the worship of God, as sinners equally unworthy of the grace and mercy we’ve been shown. We enter this time of worship to thank God for all the steadfast love we’ve been shown. We enter this house of prayer asking God for strength and mercy as we continue this journey of life. We enter this house of God singing prayers and praise. Amen.

LITANY

Leader: Once there was a man about to lose his job. In desperation, so his family wouldn’t starve, he made deals with many people who owed large amounts of money to the company.

People: Very shrewd! Buying friends!

Leader: I wonder if that would work with God?

If I give a big enough donation to the church, could I buy God’s friendship?

People: God doesn’t work that way. God’s friendship isn’t for sale.

Leader: If God doesn’t want money, then what?

People: God desires things of eternal value: humility, honesty, kindness, faithfulness and worship.

Leader: Then let us worship God in truth and spirit.
