GATHERING

ANNOUNCEMENTS

PRELUDE                                                                              Robert Reese

*CALL TO WORSHIP

Jesus said:  “The time approaches, indeed it is already here, when those that are real worshippers, will worship the Father in spirit and in truth.

Such are the worshippers whom the Father wants, God is spirit, and those who worship him, must worship in spirit and in truth.”

*GREETING

In the midst of the congregation I will praise you.

Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous, and give thanks to God’s holy name!

I will extol you, my God and King, and bless Your name, forever and ever.
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and God’s greatness is unsearchable.

OPENING PRAYER-Unison

O God, in mystery and silence you are present in our lives,

Bringing new life out of destruction, hope out of despair, growth out of difficulty. We thank You, that You do not leave us alone but labor to make us whole. Help us to perceive Your unseen hand in the unfolding of our lives, and to attend to the gentle guidance of Your spirit, that we may know the joy You give Your people.

CALL TO CONFESSION

UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION-Unison

Our heavenly Father, Who by Your love has made us, and through Your love has kept us, and in Your love would make us perfect, we humbly confess that we have not loved You, with all our heart and soul and mind and strength; nor have we loved one another as Christ loved us. Forgive what we have been, help us to amend what we are, by Your spirit, direct what we shall be; shall You come into the full glory of Your creation in us and in all people, to the honor of Jesus Christ our Lord through whom we pray.

PRAYERS AND OFFERINGS

OFFERTORY PRAYER

Creator and Architect of the Universe: Like Solomon so long ago, we pray to you and ask for wisdom — wisdom to know your will, wisdom to realize the transient nature of what the world says is wealth, wisdom to invest our time and talent in things that will last and will have eternal significance. What we offer to you this morning is but a token of what you are due, but we offer it as a reminder that if we invest wisely in things that help usher in your Kingdom of love and compassion, we will never be found wanting. In the name of the Christ who held nothing back, we pray. Amen.
